Here are a few items that we have been working on.
Literacy- We are looking at how to interpret a question to see where we would find the answer.
Students have done a few sample questions. Last week, we looked at The 3 Little Pigs. With a partner they were to create the 4 types of questions we have been looking at.
This week we will be reading a text and trying to identify the type of question it is and answering in complete sentences with evidence from the text.
2. Math- we have looked at how to count money, estimate money, make change, find out how much more and item is than another and how to write money amounts in 2 different ways.
Students were given several strategies to work with. It is up to them to use a strategy that 'makes sense' to them.
I will be giving the students a formal assessment on Thursday this week. Please look at the anchors I have attached. It will be helpful to review them with your child.
3. Science -we are looking closely at forces. What a force is, the types of forces and what forces can do. This week we will look at magnet force.
4. Homework this week will only be a math sheet that needs to be corrected. Please use the anchor charts to help correct the activity.
**** Students will be writing their 7x table test on Thursday next week.
5. Library- there is some confusion as to our new schedule. We are now on a 2 week rotation.
We were supposed to go in this Monday, but since it's a holiday we went this past Wednesday.
With all that said, I would like the students to take out 2 English books and a French book. They are to keep them for the 2 weeks.
Our next library visit will be on March 2nd.
