Good morning!

Hello parents,
Here is an update of our learning this past week.

Literacy
We have been focusing on Media Literacy. Students are learning to analyze commercials and print ads to uncover the message that is being sent. Students will be creating their own product for a target audience.

Spelling homework- they will receive their new spelling words along with a math sheet. The math will focus on 3D solids. 

Math- our focus has been on solids. Students have a good grasp on how to describe the solid using specific criteria (Faces, Edges, Vertices). 

We have also been focusing on how to compare solids using a Venn Diagram. 

Please use these pictures of our class anchors to help with this weeks homework. Students have also used a highlighter to identify the edges of a solid- seems to be a helpful strategy. 

3. Health- our focus has been on safety. We looked at all the places they need to be safe. Students were asked to make a safety poster on fire safety. Their posters helped reinforce what they need to do in case of a fire. Their posters will be displayed in the port-a-pack hallway. Well done Grade 3s!!!

Other News

1. Dance a thon forms were sent home this year. This is a fun activity that helps raise a lot of money for the school. If you are able to collect pledges that would be greatly appreciated. Please return pledge forms by Wednesday January 29th!!!
